Claims Information
As a general rule, you should call our office to report claims. Some carriers will have given you a claims reporting phone number with the policy, and you may report claims directly to them using that number as well. If you call us, we will usually visit with you a little about the potential claim, and then give you the Company’s toll free number and suggest that you call the Company directly or we might take all the information ourselves and submit a form to the Company. After the claim is submitted, an adjustor is assigned by the carrier and that adjustor will generally be back in contact with you within 24 to 48 hours. If it takes longer than that, call us.
When you turn in a claim, whether through our office, or by calling the Company directly, you will need to have the following information available: what happened, where it happened, who was involved, and when it happened. You will also need your policy number if you call a company on their toll free line. If you don't know that, give us a call first.
By the way, you should call the police for all auto accidents. Even if it is a minor accident, the other party could later develop additional damage or injuries that, without a police report, you might be unable to refute. You should also report all crimes, such as burglary or vandalism, to the appropriate police department.
